All books published with Spire Publishing will receive an ISBN number. The International Standard Book Number (ISBN) has become the standard for identifying all books published worldwide. It is now the bedrock for the stock, ordering and accounting systems of many bookstores and libraries. It is essential for any serious writer who wishes for their book to be available in shops and on-line.
We offer a comprehensive bibliographic listing service to all writers who publish with us. We obtain and register an ISBN with the appropriate bibliographic agencies on your behalf. The listing service ensures that your publication is correctly promoted within the book trade, and this may help you to sell more copies of your book.
The service includes:
- The creation of your unique EAN barcode derived from your ISBN number.
- Art-working of your book to include your ISBN in the correct positions*.
- Provision of all required information to the appropriate bibliographic agencies e.g. Nielsen BookData – this will mean that details of your publication and how to order it is sent to bookshops, libraries and e-tailers such as Amazon.
- We will maintain and update any bibliographic data with the appropriate agencies e.g. if the price of your book changes.
If you have already independently obtained an ISBN for your publication, we are happy to provide a barcode and artwork, but you will be responsible for registering the publication with the appropriate agencies yourself.
*Except for the Print Ready Package, where we deliver a barcode for you to add to your book design yourself.
