If you wish to use the Spire Print Ready Package you are responsible for the delivery of a print ready pdf. This Package is a good choice if you have a degree of technical knowledge about book production or access to a book designer. Please take a look at these specifications:
- Our standard page size is 216 x 140 mm (8.5 x 5.5 inches) for trade paperbacks and hardcover book. For colour books our standard size is 216 x 216 mm (8.5 x 8.5 inches). Colour books requires a minimum page count of 17 pages in the final printed format. Books with a page count of 47 pages or less are saddle stitch bound, all other books are perfect bound. Other formats can be accommodated, please contact help@spirepublishing.com for details.
- We do not require printer's marks on your pdf.
- We require separate files for the body of your book and for the cover.
- We will tell you what size the spine needs to be.
- Make sure that black and white images are saved in grayscale mode. It is a good idea to dial up the contrast setting for images a little, they look crisper that way when printed.
- The minimum image resolution is 200 dpi for pictures in the body of the book and 300 dpi for cover images.
- All fonts need to be embedded. This is essential for a professional looking result.
- We will send you an ISBN number and barcode to incorporate into your book and cover.
- Pdf files that do not meet the above guidelines may produce disappointing results.
